Sending away for an obituary
Today I filled out a obituary search request for the Flint Public Library. It's for my 3x great-grandmother Eliza Rich, who passed away 94 years ago today.
I hope there was an obituary in the paper for her! She lived in the city of Flint at the time of her death, so I'm crossing my fingers that the librarians at the Flint Public Library will find one. I also hope it will have good information beyond a simple birth/death date.
I emailed them last week to double check that they have records going back that far. They wrote back and told me they have them going back before 1900, but do not have them indexed for the year 1921. Once they get my request form they will search the papers.
It costs $25 non-refundable dollars for them to do the search, so I hope it's a success!
